Privacy Policy
Driverbook is made by The Taylor Portfolio (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the Driverbook app handles your information.
What Driverbook stores, and where
Everything below is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage:
- Trips: start and end times, the route (GPS points), distance, addresses, whether the trip was business or personal, and the reason you give.
- Vehicles and odometer readings, including any odometer photos you take.
- Places you save (such as Home or Work), work hours and your settings.
- Your name and tax reference, only if you type them into the logbook export.
Location
Driverbook uses your location to record trips, including in the background when you allow "Always" access. Location is used only to build your logbook on your device. To turn street coordinates into addresses (for example "74 Albert Road"), the app uses Apple Maps, which sends the coordinates to Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Driverbook itself never receives them.
Motion, calendar and camera
- Motion & Fitness helps notice when you start driving, which saves battery. It's processed on your device.
- Calendar access is optional. If you turn it on, Driverbook reads events near the end of a trip to suggest a business reason. Your calendar never leaves your device.
- Camera and Photos are used only when you choose to read an odometer from a photo. Text recognition happens on your device.
Purchases
Driverbook Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and gives the app only a record that your subscription is active. We never see your payment details.
Exports and backups
Logbook PDFs, Excel files and backups are created on your device. They go only where you choose to send or save them (for example email, Files or iCloud Drive).
Data collection and tracking
Driverbook does not collect any data, does not track you across apps or websites, and contains no third-party analytics or advertising code.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual trips in the app, or remove everything by deleting the app. Tax authorities may require you to keep logbooks for several years (five years for SARS), so make a backup first.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. This applies under POPIA (South Africa), the UK GDPR, the GDPR and other privacy laws. If you have a question, contact us.
Children
Driverbook is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
